Hi,
So here are some things I’ve been thinking about this week:
Give Demi Adejuyigbe $50,000, or it will never truly be the 21st of September again
One of the few truly joyful things left on The Hellsite (d/b/a Twitter.com) is comedian Demi Adejuyigbe’s annual celebration of the 21st of September. It perhaps is not coincidental that Demi views tweeting as a vice, and donates $2/tweet to charity; but the man has a gift of genius with the few tweets he authors.
Every year, on the 21st of September, Demi celebrates Earth, Wind, and Fire’s incredibly catchy song….
…specifically, through a series of increasingly over-the-top musical dance pieces. But, he’s improved the song, which famously randomly picked the 21st of September only because it scanned well, by remixing it into a tribute of the 21st of September as a magical, meaningful day.
The man literally has made art out of this song and this day, 5 years running, starting from his first, pathbreaking-but-humble original:
The sequel, where he begins to understand the nature of where this path is taking him:
The third, where he effortlessly hits his stride in heartfelt collaboration with the West LA’s Children’s Choir:
The fourth, built upon a deeply personal meditation on the layout of Los Angeles apartments:
To, ultimately, the most incredible, over the top video yet — it Just. Keeps. Going:
But, now that I’ve hooked you on his videos — you should understand that Demi is a busy man. He just wrapped up writing for The Good Place, he cohosts America’s top-performing Gilmore Girls-related podcast, he writes for late night shows. He will only continue, he will only persist into 2021, if he gets $50,000 for his favorite charities. But I mean, how many people really watch these videos, the donation site went down as soon as he posted it, is he possibly going to hit that ambitious targ—-
Oh. Ok then.
Things can still be good on the internet. Cool.

I may on occasion use Amazon Affiliate or similar links when referencing things I’d tell you about anyways. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases; I donate the proceeds to charity. While Substack has a paid subscription option, I don’t have any plans to use it at this time and anyone who gets this newsletter now surely won’t be ever paying for their subscription.
